The events of September 11, 2001 will never be forgotten.
I remember getting a call to turn on the TV. I stood there in complete shock, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. The towers were still standing when I first learned of what had happend in New York.
I went to work as many others did that day, even though productivity was the last things on our minds. You could hear the outrage, the fear, and the sadness.
Every news channel showed and continuously replayed the horrific footage. Each time it played it was like reliving the terror all over again.
Although I’m not sure what the media has in store for us. I don’t think I could sit and watch all the horrible things that happened that day again.
I do believe we should remember what happened, the people that innocently lost their lives and those that risked their lives to help save those that could be saved. If the media could focus on the fact that we as a nation will not be brought down, that the people have come together to rebuild and will continue to fight for our country, then by all means the anniversary should be covered. However, if their intent is to capitalize and repackage the horrors of the day I say it is better to honor the dead through our thoughts and prayers.
